Zaenkrat le govorice, ampak vseeno:

Jon Woo to direct a He-Man movie?
It's the rumor that refuses to die, which is good. As reported by Variety and then on Super Hero Hype:
Fox 2000 has set John Woo ("Paycheck") to direct and produce He-Man, a live-action film based on the characters in Mattel's "Masters of the Universe" line of action figures. Adam Rifkin will adapt the screenplay.
What does this mean? Well, currently not much. The Adam Rifkin info is new. He doesn't seem to fit the bill as a MOTU movie writer given his past history of movie credits as a writer found on Internet Movie Database. That has us worried, if this is all true.
We've been hearing variations on this rumor for a little over three years now, online and in private.
All we can say is that:

* We hope it does happen!
* It better not a repeat of the 1987 movie!
* Given Mattel's track record with fans, we hope Jon Woo and Fox contacts He-Man.org for consultation and conceptual design work to insure they tap into what will make fans support this film!

1. Če namerava biti film podoben predhodniku, naj ga raje NE snemajo!
2. Zgodba naj črpa iz risank in dogajanje naj bo postavljeno le na Eternijo
3. Adam naj se v filmu dejansko transformira v He-Mana
4. Vsi zlobneži naj bodo stari znanci ( Beastman, Tri-Klops...) in ne neki novi za film pripravljeni bedniki
5. Orko NAJ BO v filmu

EDIT

Originally made into an animated series in 1983, the property was also adapted into a live-action film in 1987 called Masters of the Universe, which starred Dolph Lundgren as the hero and Frank Langella as Skeletor.

He-Man began life as Prince Adam, the hybrid of an Earthling and an Eternian. At the age of 18, he was taken to Castle Grayskull, where Adam received super powers. He-Man has a sidekick in the form of a tiger, Battle Cat, and a deadly enemy, Skeletor.

Woo is also attached to direct The Rock in the video game adaptation "Spy-Hunter" for Universal Pictures.

Edit 2 -

Očitno res delajo nov MOTU film. Tu je le del intervjuja z Woojem:

PM: There‚s been some talk about you producing a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.

JW: Not anymore, although we are involved with He-Man and Mighty Mouse projects. We are negotiating right now. I‚ll only be involved as a producer.

PM: He-Man and Mighty Mouse?

JW: Yeah.

YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!! Pa še novi Turtlesi!!!!! Pa nov SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

Woo will also produce the film with Terence Chang through their Lion Rock Prods. Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler and director of production Rodney Farrell will Shepard the project. Woo Conjures up 'He-Man' Movie

Mon, Oct 04, 2004, 03:10 PM PT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - By the power of Grayskull ... John Woo has the power.

The filmmaker has been hired to produce and direct the live-action big-screen version of "He-Man," based on the "Masters of the Universe" line of action figures by Mattel, report news sources.

"He-Man" centers on the meek, pageboy haircut-sporting Prince Adam of the magical land of Eternia who uses the magical powers of Grayskull to transform himself into the scantily clad, sword-wielding hero He-Man. Along with his pals Battle Cat, Teela, Man-at-Arms and Orko, he battles the evil Skeletor and his minions.

Iz He-Man.org:

Okay folks, so I decided to do a some more calling around to see if I could squeeze info. out of anyone. I tried to get into contact with the President of Fox 2000, Elizabeth Gabler, but she wasn't in the office at the time. I ended up talking for a few with her assistant who was very nice and somewhat helpful.

At first, when I asked if Elizabeth was definitely involved in the Masters of the Universe film, she didn't know what I was talking about. She then asked me if I knew the director's name. When I said "John Woo", suddenly she was all like: "OH you mean He-Man!" as if I just said the greatest thing in the world. LOL She couldn't give me any information, other than, yes, Elizabeth is definitely involved in this project. BUT, this assistant did offer up a number to Rodney F., who's involved in MotU as well. Apparently she thought he could help me....

Well, I called the number and he wasn't in his office either, but his assistant gave me a very small taste as to what's going on. His first question to me was basically: "Where are you from? (As in are you a newspaper, TV reporter etc.). I told him that I was from the fan site He-Man.org, and that we had heard rumors about the MotU movie and I asked if he could please tell me if it was true and maybe give us some information. He said that it was true and something along the lines of: " Well, normally we don't do this type of thing, but what do you want to know?" I asked about release dates and he just basically said that they're in the VERY EARLY stages right now. Apparently they haven't even started on the script yet, so there wasn't much more he could tell me.

Hope this helps.

Hey, Man, He-Man's Back!

By Joal Ryan

It looks like He-Man is powering up again.

Action director John Woo has been tapped to helm a new, live-action version of the 1980s toy-rific toon, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Daily Variety reported Monday.

According to the trade paper, Woo (Face/Off) will do double duty as producer, writer/director Adam Rifkin (Detroit Rock City) will pen the script, and Fox's Fox 2000 division will bring Eternia back to life.

All of this leaves one logical question: "Who's going to be in it?," asked John Erwin.

Erwin is the veteran actor who gave He-Man his he-manly voice in the 1980s TV series. (He also helped Morris the Cat express his finicky feline thoughts in the classic TV commercials dating back to 1969.)

When contacted Monday for his reaction to a planned new He-Man movie, Erwin wished the project well, and although essentially retired, offered his services.

"If [the leading man] has a heavy lisp, I'll be ready to go," the voice-over actor joked.

There was no word on a potential cast. A Fox spokeswoman could not confirm the project Monday.

For those not raised on 1980s television, an explanation: He-Man was a pop-culture phenomenon, ample evidence of which can be found to this day on the likes of eBay where everything from He-Man lunch boxes to He-Man adhesive bandages (sorry, "Battle Strips") tempt collectors.

The TV series chronicled the adventures of Prince Adam of Eternia who buffed up when he held a sword above his head and roared, "I have the power!," thereby turning into toondom's version of Mark McGwire, He-Man.

Joined with his trusty clawed companion, Battle Cat, He-Man battled the evildoing, in-desperate-need-of-a-facial Skeletor. Twin sister She-Ra (apparently, She-Woman just didn't click) got her own show in 1985.

To Erwin, what differentiated He-Man from other toons was its accessibility. "It was one of the first shows to go five days a week," Erwin said of the series, which debuted in first-run syndication in 1983. "The kids didn't have to wait until Saturday."

The kids also didn't have to wait for the tie-in toys--Mattel Inc., home of Barbie, et. al, helped produce the series.

Owing to the success of the toys and the show, He-Man got his first big-screen closeup in 1987 in Masters of the Universe, a then-modestly budgeted flick ($17 million, per IMDb.com) from Cannon Films, the non-esteemed studio of Superman IV. Dolph Lundgren, the non-esteemed actor of Red Scorpion, starred. Fans griped.

"It better not be a repeat of the 1987 movie!" was one of the stipulations issued on the fan site, He-Man.org, regarding the new project.

"[The original movie] had its charm, but failed to deliver on a story or the characters that fans expected," Val Staples, Webmaster of He-Man.org and force behind the new Masters of the Universe comic-book series, said in an email interview Monday. "We all hope the new movie will pay careful homage to what made Masters of the Universe great."

By the power of Grayskull...

Ah, Woo. I robot).

Bomo videli.
